The Macedonian language is a Slavic language and since 1945 also the official language of Macedonia. Macedonian uses Cyrillic script. The Macedonian language is spoken by around 2,113,170 people, primarily in Macedonia (1,390,000 in 1986). According to unofficial data, it is also spoken in Albania (150,000), Bulgaria (150 000), Greece (250,000 in 2007).
