The Hungarian language is a language belonging to the Finno-Ugric language group of the Uralic language family. Hungarian is spoken in Hungary, Vojvodina and part of Slovenia (vicinity of Lendava, in eastern Slovenia). In addition, Hungarian is spoken in parts of Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Croatia and Austria, without the official languagestatus. Being the official language of Hungary, the Hungarian language is at the same time one of the official languages of the European Union. Hungarian is also one of the official languages of Vojvodina and the official language of three municipalities in Slovenia: Hodoš, Dobrovnik and Lendava, along with Slovenian. The Hungarian language is also officially recognized as a minority or regional language in Austria, Croatia, Romania, Bukovina, Zakarpattia in Ukraine and Slovakia.
